Closing the loop in the social media arena
Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, YouTube, delicious, TripIt, Last.fm … all social networks have their specific interest but being actively present in all of them requires an excessive dedication.
However, through the great invention of the API, all the social networks offer integration with each other. Thus, with little effort and no extra time, we may also be present and active in our favorite social networks.
Want to know how? Here a summary of the associations between social networks that I use today.
- Facebook + Twitter: You can install the Twitter App on your Facebook account so that any new Tweet will also appear automatically on your wall.
- Linkedin + Twitter: You can install the Tweets application on your Linkedin account and you can convert any new Tweet on the status of your Linkedin account, simply add the tag #in within the text of your Tweet.
- YouTube + Twitter or Facebook: Through the “Shared activity” service that you can find in your YouTube profile, you will be able to automatically publish on Twitter and / or Facebook, the actions you perform on YouTube, for example, to flag a video as a favorite, rate it or upload it.
- Delicious + Twitter: Through the Twitter API you can set your Delicious account so that any new link added, will automatically create a Tweet in your Twitter account.
- Spotify + Twitter or Facebook or Delicious: If you right-click on any of your Spotify playlists you will have the option to “Publish” on Twitter, Facebook or Delicious. This way you can share your playlists with your contacts.
- Spotify + Last.fm: From Spotify preferences you can activate the integration with Last.fm. While you listen a song on Spotify a notification is published in your Last.fm profile.
- WordPress + All: There are several WordPress plugins that allow different types of integration between a blog site and your social networks. In this blog, for example, the following plugins are installed to integrate with social networks:
- Find me On by Jeremy Anticouni: A sidebar widget that displays icons for all of your social network profiles.
- Lifestream by David Cramer: Displays your activity from various social networks.
- Linkedin Resume by Arnaud Lejosne: Displays your CV on your blog from your linkedIn public page informations.
- Sociable by Blogplay: Automatically add links on your posts, pages and RSS feed to your favorite social bookmarking sites.
- Tweetable by Matt Harzewski: Integrates Twitter with your WordPress blog. Automatically Tweet new posts and displays your latest Tweet in your sidebar.
Thanks to all these integration tools, you can easily keep the status of all your social networks up to date … while surfing the web when an interesting link is found, writing a new post in your blog, finding a curious video in YouTube or publishing a new link on Delicious.
Simply update your social networks no longer has to be a time-consuming work.
Bye.
